The Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council encourages you to join one of the participating fiber arts groups to learn more about the fiber art media that you enjoy. Develop your skills as you participate in the lectures, classes, exhibitions, study groups and more, available through the local co-sponsoring fiber art guilds. Beginners, collectors, interested observers, as well as the experienced are welcome to join! Scroll down to learn more about our many local guilds.

ABQ Modern Quilt Guild

The ALBUQUERQUE MODERN QUILT GUILD (#ABQMQG or @ABQMQG) meets the first Tuesday of each month; North Domingo Baca Center (7521 Carmel NE Albuquerque NM  87113).  Meetings open at 6 pm and convene at 6:30 pm, featuring programs, activities, show and tell and an extensive Modern Quilting Lending Library.  Monthly Sew Days are to support charity and other educational projects as are Quilt Along groups.  Lots of information and membership sign up available on our website:  abqmodernquiltguild.org .  Dues of $40 cover membership for a calendar year and enable membership in the national Modern Quilt Guild as well.  Email: albuquerquemqg@gmail.com.  Instagram: @ABQMQG and Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/abqmqg .



American Sewing Guild, Albuquerque Chapter

THE AMERICAN SEWING GUILD meets the second Thursday in February, April, August and November new location to be determined. The Albuquerque chapter is an affiliate of the national organization and is dedicated to providing information, education and programs in sewing arts, and to participating in charitable sewing projects for local organizations. Smaller subsets of the chapter, called neighborhood groups meet at multiple times and places around the Duke City. Dues are $50 for the first year and $45 for subsequent years. Bead Society of New Mexico

THE BEAD SOCIETY OF NM meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, every month except July and December.

The location of the meetings is Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 8600 Academy Rd. NE on the corner of Academy and Moon.

Desert Designs Machine Knitting Guild

DESERT DESIGNS MACHINE KNITTING GUILD meetings are held in members’ homes on the second Saturday of the month at 9:30 am. Contact Carol at 505-463-7751 or elliscjw@aol.com for locations. Dropped Stitch Knitters Guild

THE DROPPED STITCH KNITTERS GUILD was formed in 1997 as a local chapter of The Knitting Guild of America (TKGA). Our purpose is to promote knowledge of, and appreciation for, the skills associated with the art of knitting. We meet the first Saturday of the month, at the Domingo Baca Multi-Generational Center (7521 Carmel Ave. NE: north of Paseo del Norte, west of Wyoming). Check at front desk for meeting room. Enchanted Lacemakers Guild

THE LACEMAKERS GUILD meets on the first Sunday of the month, at 1:30 pm at various member’s homes. Please contact Charlene for directions at 505 266-8007, or tatsmith@comcast.net. The Enchanted Lacemakers Guild is dedicated to Lace Making, Lace Education, and Lace Collecting. Monthly meetings revolve around studying lace and its many techniques. We stage workshops and demonstrate our art at local museums, libraries and festivals. The guild sponsors programs, workshops, discussions, and sharing studies about lace, including bobbin lace, needle lace, tatting, knitted lace, crocheted lace, and various forms of embroidered laces. Las Arañas Spinners and Weavers Guild

LAS ARAÑAS SPINNERS AND WEAVERS GUILD meetings are usually held on alternating day and evening times, at the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center, 2008 Larrazolo Rd SW, Albuquerque. Since 1970, Las Arañas has been sharing lectures, demonstrations, workshops and exhibits with the public to promote interest and education in weaving, spinning, dyeing and other fiber work. The group works with the New Mexico Wool Growers each year at the Sheep to Shawl booth at the New Mexico State Fair demonstrating shearing, spinning, dyeing and weaving with items to sell. Membership is $35 for a regular member and $15 for students annually. Mixed Media Textile Artists of NM

MIXED MEDIA TEXTILE ARTISTS OF NEW MEXICO (MMTANM) is an informal organization open to all who share an interest in mixed media textile art that is diverse in style and medium. Membership is free. Meetings are currently held the third Thursday of each month at  St. Michael and All Angel’s, 601 Montaño, Albuquerque 87107. A short business meeting is followed by member show-and-tell and a mini-workshop, demonstration, or guest speaker. Workshops and seminars are scheduled depending on member interests. New Mexico Crochet Guild

THE NEW MEXICO CROCHET GUILD is a chapter of the Crochet Guild of America, and meets the 3rd Saturday of each month, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church (8600 Academy NE), Adult Bldg. Room 407. Meetings consist of a short business meeting followed by a program. They also host yarn swaps and auctions, participate in charitable events, and are responsible for the crochet exhibit at the NM State Fair. New Mexico Quilters Association, Inc. (NMQA)

NEW MEXICO QUILTERS’ ASSOCIATION, INC. (NMQA) meets the fourth Monday most months, alternating day meetings on odd months and evening meetings on even months, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 7550 Eubank Ave NE, Albuquerque 87122. Organized in 1974, NMQA has over 150 members. Special interest study groups, Show and Tell, major speakers and workshops, and a large lending library are regular events. (For more info on workshops and programs email programs@nmqa.org) NMQA creates a Balloon Quilt each year as a fundraiser at the Balloon Fiesta. Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA)

STUDIO ART QUILT ASSOCIATES/NEW MEXICO CHAPTER serves artists working in the art quilt medium, as well as teachers, collectors, gallery owners, museum curators and corporate sponsors who recognize the importance of the art quilt. Thimbleweed Quilters

THE THIMBLEWEED QUILTERS meet in the Sabana Grande Recreational Center, Rio Rancho, 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. This is a Rio Rancho Parks & Recreation group that has speakers, community service projects, library, annual quilting retreat, potluck parties, block of the month and workshops.
