Events Calendar

New Mexico SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates): There will be two shows opening on April 6, 2018. SEEDS of SAQA will open at the Farm and Ranch Museum with a reception from 3-5 pm. Life Along the Rio Grande will open at
the Branigan Cultural Center with a reception from 5-8 pm. Come join us.

Southwest Women's Fiber Arts Collective: A Fiber Arts Stash Sale Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 10 am to 1 pm at 1905 N. Cactus St. to benefit the Southwest Women's Fiber Arts Collective. Members of the Collective are clearing out their stashes of yarn, fabric, books and supplies! This is a great way to get high quaility fiber art supplies at a great price.

Taos Quilt & Needlecraft Guild Show: The Stables Gallery in Taos, NM, 133 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, May 25(10-5), 26(10-5), & 27(10--4).   Memorial Day Weekend. Admission is free.

Fifth Annual Navajo Rug Auction: held by the Foundation for Las Cruces Museums will be held on Saturday, September 22 at the Branigan Cultural Center. Preview will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m., with the auction of approximately 250 lots of rugs, baskets, jewelry and other handmade items following at noon. Admission is FREE; cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted for purchases. The auction is conducted by R. B. Burnham Company, with proceeds benefitting the Navajo weavers and the Las Cruces Museums. Jewelry sales and appraisals of Native American artifacts ($10 fee per item appraised) will be available Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, contact the Foundation at

Wonderlust Expeditions: October 2 - 7, 2018, titled "Fiber Trails of the Upper Rio Grande. Limited to 10-12 participants, based out of Ghost Ranch New Mexico. Class & Workshop Opportunities

The Española Valley Fiber Arts Center is the place to go for your local material needs. They also offer classes year round in a large variety of Fiber Arts that will fit anyone's wallet! All class minimums are now set at only two students! We want our students to feel confident about registering for classes. As long as you and a friend sign up, it will run. Las Cruces Museum of Art Studio Programs offer classes for both adults and young artists including ceramics, sculpture drawing & painting, digital photography, weaving, and painting with oils. Getaways at Ghost Ranch. The Albuquerque, NM retreat center is offering many classes and events of interest, including one on quilting, basket making and weaving. There is a good discount for registering early. The site also offers suggestions for travel and accommodations - and tours of the area's scenic and artistic sites. Tres Manos Weaving of New Mexico, Inc. The mission of Tres Manos is to help low income women of southern Dona Ana County increase their family income through learning the art of weaving and using their artisan skills to create and sell beautiful hand-woven scarves, shawls, jackets, and home accessories. The Yarn Store at Nob Hill, in association with the Tractor Bar at Nob Hill, is sponsoring two special craft meetings each month. On the second Saturday of each month, from 3-5 pm, there is a Begin Again: help getting back to or starting off with any hand craft. On the third Thursday of each month, from 6-8 pm, there is a Community Craft Night: bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, etc. and join in with others. Navajo Rug Auctions. Hundreds of Navajo rugs are auctioned off, usually on the second Friday of each month, but not always! Auctions are held at the Crownpoint Elementary School, Crownpoint, NM. The actual auctions start at 7 pm and go on until 10 pm. All rugs are one hundred percent handmade (no machine made rugs allowed).

Hello Craft invites handmade aficionados to contribute stories about inspiration and first sewing machine purchases to its weekly podcast. Share your crafting story and listen to other inspiring, crazy, sad, madcap and funny craft tales that other crafters have to tell.

TDLT Fiber Artisans have a quantity of alpaca fleece to use in our projects and to sell as supplies. We are looking for someone who can clean, pick, and card it for us. The Gallery ABQ offers exhibition space to guest artists in our full service gallery. We are fully staffed and open six days a week. Call for Entries

Nob Hill Fabrics Garment Exhibition: For NM Fiber Crawl May 18 - 20, 2018. Entries will be accepted for judging May 12 through May 17, 2018. Entries will be juried with a $5 entry fee each; limit 3 entries per artist. Garments should: demonstrate fiber art techniques such as (but not limited to) embroidery, beading, dyeing, felting, kntting, crochet; display quality construction skills; be one-of-a-kind sweaters, skirts, dresses, vests, tops, jackets; not have been displayed in a previous show. Garments will be displayed through May 20, 2018.

36th Annual New Legacies: Contemporary Art Quilts. Entry Deadline: 5/7/18. Exhibition Dates: July 6 - September 1, 2018. Entry Fee: $35.00.
